Boy, 12, arrested for assault in Redlands - DailyBulletin.com
REDLANDS - A 12-year-old suspected gang member was arrested by police Thursday evening on suspicion of beating two teens near Community Park.
The boy, whose name was not released because of his age, was part of a group of 15 to 20 boys who chased the victims from the park to the nearby basketball courts at Clement Middle School on April 18, police said. The group beat the victims until police arrived.
The victims received minor injuries.
Officers arrested the boy about 6 p.m. Thursday.
Police are trying to identify several of the other boys suspected in the attack.
Officers said the incident may be related to a theft from an ice cream vendor that occurred in the park earlier that day. Several children demanded candy and one displayed a knife in his waistband, police said.
The vendor told police he chased the boys off, but several of them stole merchandise before leaving, police said.
