10-Year Old Boy Dies Of Dry Drowning In South Carolina
June 9, 2008
Washington (dbTechno) - A 10-year old boy, Johnny Jackson from South Carolina died at his home on Sunday from what is called dry drowning. This was more than a full hour after he went swimming.
The boy was swimming and then proceeded to walk back home with his mother.
After returning home, Jackson cleaned up in the bath and then went to bed. The mother later found his face in what was described as a spongy white material. She made her story public to NBC News on the TODAY Show.
Johnny Jackson has no signs of any problems following the swimming, but apparently must have gotten water in his lungs.
3,600 Americans died in 2005 from drowning, with a very small percentage dying hours later due to water entering the respiratory system, according to the CDC.
By the time the mother rushed him to the hospital, it was too late.
