Armed man surrenders after standoff with police - Redlands Daily Facts:
REDLANDS - A man wanted for assault threatened to shoot himself as police surrounded his home Friday afternoon.
At about 2 p.m. Friday, a Redlands woman reported she had been assaulted and threatened by her boyfriend, 30-year-old Ryan Stewart, at Stewart's home in the 100 block of Norwood Street, said city spokesman Carl Baker. Baker said the woman told police Stewart had a gun and had threatened to shoot police and himself.
As officers surrounded the residence Friday afternoon, Air 10, the Redlands Police Department's plane, circled above the scene and reported Stewart's movements near the house and directed officers into place.
Baker said Redlands officer Kyle Alexander called Stewart and negotiated with him for about 45 minutes until a family member arrived and convinced Stewart to leave the house. Shortly before 5:30 p.m., Stewart surrendered to police.
Officers searched the residence and found a loaded handgun.
Baker said Stewart was charged with domestic assault and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm."
