Riverside suspect pleads guilty in assault on disabled Redlands man

SAN BERNARDINO - An 18-year-old Riverside man pleaded guilty Thursday for his role in last year's beating of a Redlands paraplegic man with cerebral palsy, San Bernardino County Deputy District Attorney Tristan Svare said.

Ronn James Odom accepted a plea offer that will send him to prison for six years for charges of home invasion robbery, dependant adult abuse and theft from a dependant adult.

The victim, Steven Kile, who cannot speak, said in an e-mail Thursday that he was happy with the plea.

On April 22, 2007, four young men burst into Kile's Redlands apartment and threw him from his wheelchair, then beat him and stole electronics items.

Deshon Lamar Matthews, 15, accepted a plea agreement on Nov. 28 and faces three years in prison. Seyyed Hadi Mirohi, 21, and Richard Lance McGee, 22, are awaiting trial on six charges. All three are from Riverside.
